(Well, not exactly in MY town…)
After two long years of yarn withdrawal since my two local yarn shops closed down, July brought a new yarn shop to Bentonville! I am sooooo excited!
I visited Ashley Spencer in her cute little shop called Yarn Alchemy. (For those of you who may not be familiar with the term ‘alchemy,’ the definition is this: “a seemingly magical process of transformation, creation, or combination.”) Can you think of any statement that so beautifully describes what happens when a maker picks up yarn, hooks or needles, spinning wheels, drop spindles, looms and accessories and creates something beautiful and useful from them?
A Cozy Knitting Oasis in NWA!

Ashley took a small space and fashioned a cozy oasis where “yarn people” can go and create beautiful works of art while socializing with other yarn people—no judgment, no angst, just artists who love knitting, crocheting, spinning or weaving with yarn or potential yarn. Yes, Ashley has stocked her store with items useful and necessary for all of the yarn projects a creator could hope to see. I was at the shop when the fellas brought the sign and set it up. Ashley was so excited, she just beamed!
Yarn Alchemy resembles a cozy cottage, with flower boxes in front of the store and living plants splashed in the windows and around the shop. Beautiful knitted and crocheted items are on display through the shop, as well.
A very comfortable sofa sits in the front of the shop, beckoning to anyone who wishes to come craft to “sit a spell” and enjoy the store’s ambiance.
Interesting and Fun Knitting Inventory
Ashley’s inventory of yarns and notions continues to grow as she brings into her shop national and international yarn of all fibers, as well as products created by local independent yarn dyers.
You should definitely stop by Yarn Alchemy, located just behind Crepes Paulette at 704 South Main Street in Bentonville, Arkansas. You can visit her website at https://yarnalchemynwa.com/ or reach Ashley at (479) 553-7095. The store accepts non-contact payments with debit and credit cards.
I finally, finally have a place nearby to run my fingers through yarn and chat with like-minded yarn folks. Y’all go visit and see for yourself!
Happy Knitting!
