Hello friends and fellow knitters! It’s been a long while; lots of interesting things going on in my world that I’ll tell you all about in a later post.
Right now I want to share with you a Facebook group that I’ve been working on. It’s called the UFO Yarn Challenge. There are dozens of quilting challenge groups/pages on Facebook, but I couldn’t find anything that would work for yarn people like us.
It’s a simple idea
The premise is similar to that of the quilting challenges – just four easy steps! Here’s what you do:
- Make a list of UFO (unfinished objects) projects that you have lingering in your stash, whether you have begun the project or not;
- Number the projects 1-12;
- Watch the Facebook group for end-of-the-month announcements for a project number, and
- Work on or complete your project that is the project number for the month.
This group is a bit different from quilting challenges because yarn projects tend to take a while longer than sewing or quilting projects. So, the goal isn’t necessarily to complete a project, although if you can finish one, that’s great! The goal is to work on that project primarily through the month and complete as much as you can. The project numbers are just for fun; work on any project that moves you. But the encompassing idea is to make progress on your listed projects.
Monthly drawings
We also do monthly drawings for some little something that appeals to those of us who love beautiful things and strive to create them with yarn. This month I’m giving away this dainty little gold-tone bookmark! Here’s a picture:
To enter the drawing, all you have to do is post a photo of a project you’ve finished or the project you’re working on right now.
