The Sweater For ME!

A WIP (Work In Progress)

On Our Last Visit…

In a former post, I shared with you a picture and “harrowing” story of casting on when one is distracted. An NBA Playoff game would be a great example. (It wasn’t even my favorite team playing! Go Jazz!) When I straightened out the mess I made and managed a few rows of ribbing, it looked like this:

After a few weeks of knitting and getting all the increases made, I started straight knitting. This sweater is knitted from the bottom up, and the pattern calls for the knitted to equal 15″ in length before you separate the knitting for sweater front and back work. I like my sweaters/tops a bit longer than 15″, so I’ll probably knit about 17″ before I start the front and back work. (You have to separate them in order to put in the sleeves unless you use steeks. I’ve never done a steek in a garment, so I’m going to follow the pattern directions on this one. Steeks will be for another project.)

Here’s what I’ve managed so far:

Sweater in the Round

I’ve photographed this knitting so that you can see the outside (right side) of the sweater as well as the inside (wrong side) of the sweater. Here’s a closer look at the right side of the sweater:

This knitting moves from left to right in this photograph. You can see the ribbed band on the left which is the bottom band of the sweater. Just for interest’s sake, here’s a shot–blurry, sorry–of the wrong side of the sweater:

Looks quite different, doesn’t it?

I love this yarn. It’s printed organic cotton, worsted weight, made by Blue Sky Fibers. The color is Mayflower, a wonderfully-tweed-ed yarn with flecks of rich forest green, lighter shades of green, and pale cream.

You can also see that I haven’t made a lot of progress on my sweater, probably because it’s for me and I rarely knit for myself. I get distracted/excited about projects for everyone else!

Ah, well. I’ll finish it. Someday!

Happy knitting!

Anita
